In Celebration
I lined the halls with your mothers bunting,
I wrapped presents, carefully —
I dressed myself up in satin & silver,
I blew balloons until my face turned blue
Because it all meant so much to you.
Your face glowed like christmas lights,
Your grin and laughter,
You are eternally effervescent in memory.
Your light refracted through me and coloured me in rainbows.
The sun shone for what seemed like a lifetime,
But without warning
The solstice lit our souls aflame,
Clashing, crackling, spitting sparks
Across our starry night,
Showering fragments of ash and debris spread
So far apart.
